Okay so, can we talk about the exhaustion for a second.
Not just “I need a holiday” tired. The deeper kind. The kind where you’re doing everything right on paper, hitting the targets, showing up, staying productive, and still feeling like something is profoundly off. Like the whole machine is running but nobody’s actually home inside it.
If that’s familiar, I want to offer you something. Because I don’t think that feeling is burnout. I think it’s a signal. And I think a lot of people right now are receiving it without knowing what to do with it.
Something is actually collapsing
Here’s what I’m noticing, both in my own life and in the conversations happening around me. Hustle culture, the whole grind harder, sleep less, monetise your passion, your 9-to-5 is someone else’s dream thing, it’s not just falling out of fashion. It’s actively falling apart. People who built their whole identity around the hustle are hitting a wall that no productivity hack can fix. The burnout is real but underneath the burnout there’s something else, a kind of disillusionment that feels less like exhaustion and more like grief. Like mourning a version of success that never actually delivered what it promised.
And I find that genuinely interesting. Because grief is not a productivity problem. Grief is a frequency problem.
The frequency your nervous system is rejecting
I work in marketing. I have for years. I also do energy work. I live with one foot in both worlds every single day, and what I can tell you from that particular vantage point is this: the frequency of hustle culture is specific and it is loud. It’s urgency, it’s comparison, it’s scarcity, it’s the constant low-grade panic that you’re falling behind something, though nobody can quite say what. It vibrates at a particular pitch and after a while your body just… stops tolerating it.
That’s what the collapse actually is. It’s not a cultural trend. It’s millions of nervous systems simultaneously going, actually, no. We’re done with this frequency. It doesn’t feel like us anymore.
And here’s the spiritual bit, because there is one. That rejection, that “no more of this” feeling in your body, that’s not weakness. That’s discernment. That’s your energy system doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, which is tell you when something is out of alignment with who you actually are. The problem is that most of us were never taught to read that signal as information. We were taught to push through it.
What’s actually on the other side
I want to be careful here because I’m not about to tell you to quit your job and manifest your dream life. That’s not the post. What I am saying is that the collapse of hustle culture is creating a gap, and what fills that gap matters.
For a lot of people, what’s filling it right now is a genuine turn inward. A curiosity about meaning that goes beyond metrics. A willingness to ask questions like, what am I actually here to do, not in a productivity sense but in a soul sense. And that question, that specific question, is a spiritual question whether you frame it that way or not.
The people I see navigating this transition well aren’t the ones who’ve abandoned ambition. They’re the ones who’ve changed what they’re ambitious for. They still work hard, sometimes harder than before. But the energy underneath the work is different. It’s not panic. It’s not keeping up. It’s more like, this is genuinely what I’m here to build and I can feel the difference.
That felt sense, the ability to tell the difference between aligned action and anxious action, is an energetic skill. And most of us are being dragged toward developing it right now whether we asked for it or not.
So what do you actually do with this
Honestly, the first thing is just to name it. If you’re feeling the exhaustion, the disillusionment, the grief underneath the grind, that’s real and it’s worth taking seriously. It’s not a personality flaw. It’s not laziness. It’s information.
The second thing is to get genuinely curious about what frequency you’re actually operating from right now. Not in a woo way necessarily, just practically. When you sit down to work, what’s the energy underneath it? Is it “I want to build this because it matters and I can feel that” or is it “I’m terrified of falling behind so I have to keep moving?” Because those are completely different energies and they produce completely different results, even when the actions look the same from the outside.
The third thing, and this is the one most people skip, is to let something be genuinely enough. Pick one thing today. One. And let it be enough. Not because you’ve given up, but because the compulsion to always do more is the exact frequency you’re trying to get out of. You practice a different frequency by choosing it, even just once, even just today.
That’s the spiritual event underneath the collapse. Not the fall of hustle culture. The invitation to choose differently, quietly, without announcement, just because it feels more true.
