Manifestation Doesn’t Care If You’re a Good Person (And That’s Actually Good News)

Alright, let’s talk about money. Specifically, why so many genuinely good, genuinely spiritual people are absolutely broke while doing “everything right.”

You’ve done the gratitude journal. You’ve cleared your energy. You’ve said the affirmations in the mirror feeling slightly ridiculous but doing it anyway. And meanwhile someone you know who’s never meditated a day in their life, doesn’t care about anyone’s energy but their own, is doing just fine financially. And some small part of you thinks, hang on, isn’t this supposed to work the other way round? Aren’t I supposed to be the one who gets rewarded here?

I want to gently break some news to you. The universe isn’t running a fairness competition based on who’s the better person.

It rewards action, not character

Here’s the actual mechanic underneath manifestation, once you strip away the vision boards and the moon water. It’s not “good people get good things.” It’s closer to, the people who actually move get moved. Energy responds to motion, not to moral scorekeeping.

Think about it like this. Right now, today, writing this post is an action. It’s not me sitting around hoping the right words arrive through good vibes alone. I sat down, I thought about what would actually help someone, and I wrote it. That’s the manifestation. The thinking-about-it-with-good-energy part matters, sure, it’s the direction you’re pointing. But the actual movement, the thing that turns a wish into a result, that’s always action. Always has been.

This isn’t a punishment or a “well you didn’t manifest hard enough” situation either. It’s actually really freeing once it lands properly, because it means you don’t need to become a better, more deserving, more spiritually evolved person before money starts flowing toward you. You just need to start moving toward it. That’s a much lower bar, and a much kinder one.

The quiet block most spiritual people don’t talk about

Here’s the bit I think actually needs saying out loud, because I don’t see enough people in this space willing to say it.

A lot of spiritual people have a deeply buried belief that money is somehow dirty. Greedy. Low vibration. Something the “evolved” person is supposed to be above wanting too much of. Maybe it came from religion, maybe it came from watching someone in your life chase money and lose themselves doing it, maybe it’s just absorbed from a culture that loves to romanticise struggling artists and broke yogis like poverty is proof of purity.

Whatever the source, if some part of you believes wanting money makes you less spiritual, you will, without even meaning to, keep money at arm’s length. You can’t fully receive something you secretly believe is beneath you, or beneath who you’re trying to become.

So let’s just deal with this directly. Money is not evil. Money is not low vibration. Money is just energy that happens to be shaped like currency. It’s neutral. It becomes whatever the person holding it decides to do with it. The same money that funds something genuinely harmful can also fund therapy, can pay a single mum’s rent, can let you actually take the Soul Sessions client who can’t afford full price, can fund the thing you’re actually here to do in this world. The money doesn’t carry the morality. You do.

Abundance is not a vibe, it’s a direction

I want to rescue the word “abundance” for a second because I think the internet has flattened it into something it isn’t. It’s become this aesthetic, soft lighting, gold everything, a vision board with a Lamborghini on it. That’s not abundance, that’s just a mood board.

Real abundance is just the understanding that resources aren’t fixed and zero-sum the way fear tells you they are. It’s not “I have to take from someone else’s pile to fill mine.” It’s “there is more available than I currently think there is, and I’m allowed to go get some of it.” That’s it. It’s a direction you’re facing, not a feeling you’re performing.

You don’t need to feel abundant to start acting like resources are actually available to you. You just need to stop unconsciously acting like they’re not.

Okay, the actual practical part

Right, you wanted action steps, here they are. Not mystical, just real.

Track where your money actually goes for one week. Not to judge yourself, just to see it clearly. Most people are vague about their own money, and vagueness is the opposite of manifestation. You can’t direct energy toward something you refuse to look directly at.

Name one specific number, not a vibe. “I want to be abundant” doesn’t give the universe, or your own brain, anything to aim at. “I want an extra $500 a month” does. Specificity is action dressed up as clarity.

Do the unglamorous outreach thing you’ve been avoiding. The email. The DM. The asking someone for the referral. The posting the offer publicly instead of just thinking about posting it. Manifestation people love to skip this step because it feels less spiritual than journalling. It’s actually the most spiritual part, because it’s where your intention meets the real world.

Charge properly for what you do. If you undercharge because some part of you feels guilty taking money for something that comes naturally to you, you are literally practicing the money-is-bad belief in real time. Charging what something is worth isn’t greedy. It’s just honest.

Notice and interrupt the apology reflex. If you catch yourself saying “sorry, I know this is a lot but” before stating your price, your need, your ask, that’s the block talking. You don’t need to apologise for wanting to be paid or supported.

Set aside ten minutes a week to actually plan, not just hope. What’s one real action this week that moves you toward the number. Just one. Small is fine. Consistent beats dramatic.

You’re allowed to want this

You don’t need to earn the right to have money by becoming the most spiritually evolved version of yourself first. You’re allowed to just want it, plainly, without dressing the want up in enough crystals and gratitude practice to make it feel acceptable.

Want it. Then go do the unglamorous, unmystical, completely necessary thing that actually moves you toward it. That’s the whole practice. Heheh, like this post. I sat down and did it instead of just thinking about it.

If this resonated, there’s more of this kind of thinking over on the Woo & Wonder podcast. And if you ever want support actually working through your own blocks, Soul Sessions is here whenever the time feels right.

No pressure. No rush. Just an open door.
